As gas prices fall Republican hopes rise

Democrats were very confident about their hopes to reclaim their congressional power in this upcoming election year. Democrats were so confident that they were already referring to each other with new titles like speaker of the house Pelosi and Chairman Rangel. As I thought of that possibility it was enough to make me cringe and a little sick to my stomach. But for a few weeks now gas prices have fallen dramatically and with it Republican chances of maintaining control of congress seems more certain. Poll numbers over the past weeks have shown more support for Republican candidates as the price of gas has fallen to lows we have not seen in many months. Some are now suggesting that their is a conspiracy by the oil companies to lower prices to help Republicans stay in power. I wonder why then the oil companies would raise prices not so long ago. I guess after being blamed for the dramatic rise in gas prices President Bush should receive the credit for lowering them. People need to realize that the president does not set oil prices but it is a result of speculators calculating conditions all over the world like unrest in the middle east and other regions and the supply. If somehow people want to attach politicians to gas prices that is fine and then those people can throw their support to Republicans to ensure a vital victory this fall.
